Farm visits and delving deeper
Visit the farm
Since we came to the farm in 1984 we have hosted a great many visits from schools, fine dining clubs and organisations wishing to understand more about wildlife and regenerative farming practises. We also have Open Days and events during the year for everyone to see the farm and meet the animals. For updates join our newsletter.

Our Beef and Pasture for Life
Cattle diets that are predominately forage (rather than cereals) have been shown to enhance omega-3 in meat.
A recent research study found that Pasture for Life beef has more than 40mg long-chain omega-3/100g of the meat. This means certified farmers could make a nutritional claim when selling their beef, as it qualifies as a ‘source for omega-3 fatty acids’ under European Food Standards.
Omega-3 has anti-inflammatory properties and deficiencies in omega-3s associated to adverse mental and physical health conditions. There is an excess of omega-6 in many peoples diets. Since metabolism of omega-3 and omega-6 share common enzyme systems, the availability of omega-3 to the body is reduced when omega-6 is high.
This study compared the beneficial fatty acid profiles in steaks from 4 UK systems: non-organic, organic, certified pasture-fed and conservation cattle.
Our Partnership with Filston Farm

We have partnered Filston Farm and Broxham. Filston is a mixed arable and livestock farm.
Farming practices at Romshed will remain very largely the same, putting nature at the front of everything we do and still following organic principles. However, we have had to drop our Soil Association certification at Romshed as the understandably very tight rules makes working with an uncertified farm quite difficult.

We believe that helping people to better understand farming and how food is produced is incredibly important in making informed choices over what we all eat.
